Blogging?

Well, this is my first ever blog post on my first ever blog. Needless to say, I am very new at this. With being a student, fiance, and working multiple jobs the last thing I think I need is a blog. However, I have been previously challenged by a blogging friend that this is a great way to get ideas and reflections down...while opening them up to criticism and insight. So, with that being said, the purpose for this blog is two-fold.

First, I want to do more than fill journals with reflections on the Bible and life that sit on my shelf. I want to have my thoughts read by others and challenged. I want to have those that do not believe the same things as I do to read this blog and push me on what I say. I want to have a place I can point my friends that do not believe in God or that do not have faith of any kind to see that this is real to me and more than just lip-service.

Second, my writing needs improvement. I have a hard time expressing my ideas in ways that are interesting and exciting. In order to get better at writing, I need practice. Sure, I have term papers that make me to do it once or twice a semester, but those will not be around forever. I also know that words are powerful, whether they are spoken or written, so I am forcing myself to try and keep this up for a while. Initially, my blogging goal is once a week.

So, whether I have zero followers (at present) or a thousand, I'm going to write like I have an audience that is interested in what I have to say. Challenge me on what I write, but show grace on how I communicate it. I'm a blogging work in progress.
